VIDEO: New York Mandate Podcast, Ep. 31: "Anecdotals" Filmmaker Jennifer Sharp

“We need this discussion. This movie is critically important.”: A conversation with Jennifer Sharp, whose film Anecdotals explores her and others' experience with COVID-19 vaccine injury.

“There are people right now that are going to commit suicide in three weeks if they don't feel heard. . . . So there's something actively that needs to be done. . . . I think the way to help is to come together and figure out how to make a change. So that's why I have my perspective, because that's what I see every day, is the people that are hurt. And that's what I care about.” - Jennifer Sharp

In this episode of the New York Mandate podcast, I talk with Jennifer Sharp, an award-winning independent filmmaker. Her recent film Anecdotals presents her own and others’ experiences with suffering adverse effects following COVID-19 vaccination.

The film also examines the politics and public discussion surrounding vaccine injuries, with Sharp underscoring the urgency of changing the conversation.

She talked with me about the challenges of making a film on the topic of COVID-19 vaccine injuries, how Anecdotals has been received in the media, and how vaccine mandates have affected her.

The act also created the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) for reporting adverse events following vaccination, as well as the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) for compensating individuals who make verified claims. VICP does not accept claims of COVID-19 vaccine injury.

Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP)
This federal program provides compensation for covered serious injuries or deaths that occur as the result of the administration or use of certain countermeasures. COVID-19 vaccination is one of the covered countermeasures.

About the New York Mandate Podcast

The New York Mandate Podcast is an ongoing series of conversations exploring the costs and consequences of vaccine mandates in New York City. I talk with workers, students, and parents who have been directly affected by the mandates, as well as legal and policy experts.

In late 2021, the City introduced a series of requirements for workers and to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. These requirements were put in place through executive orders issued by the administration of former mayor Bill de Blasio. They covered nearly all workers in New York City, in both the public and private sectors. They also barred unvaccinated adults, including parents, from schools.

Current mayor Eric Adams kept the mandates in place until November 1, 2022 for the private sector and February 10, 2023 for City workers, and has encouraged private employers to put their own vaccine requirements in place.

The views expressed in the New York Mandate podcast are the personal opinions of the people speaking, and are not intended to provide medical or legal advice.
